The Name She Was Given

Fourteen-year-old Aveline is dead - publicly, completely, and by her own admission - the moment she is offered the only viable alternative to execution: become someone else entirely.

She takes on a new name, a new history, and a place at the Collegium, the very institution meant to shape the Gifted into who Vireth needs them to be. It's the safest place Lord Blackmere could put her. It's also the last place built to hide a secret in.

All she has to do is survive it: professors trained to watch for exactly what she's hiding, classmates who could unmake her with a single careless question, and truths clawing their way to the surface, about her family, her country, and something in her own blood that no one, including Aveline, was ever supposed to find.
